Mike Piero’s flash fiction story, “Latibule,” was a Finalist in Midway Journal’s 2024 Flash Fiction Contest and was published in their 2025 issue, vol. 19, issue 1. Inspired by T.C. Boyle’s classic story, “The Hit Man,” “Latibule”–named after the word for a small, hidden away place of comfort–follows a former adjunct professor of philosophy working from home in post-pandemic America as he goes about his daily life.
