Mike Piero’s latest book review–of M. C. Benner Dixon’s debut novel, The Height of Land (Orison Books, 2025)–was just published in the Fall print edition of Rain Taxi Review of Books. Recommending Benner Dixon’s excellent post-apocalyptic novel, Piero shares some of his own interpretations and insights about the nature of reading, seeking, and being-with others during times of religious extremism. The Height of Land is an outstanding work of literary fiction, one worth checking out.
